Pictures from a day trip from Taipei to Chiufen, an old mining town that was the setting of Hou Hsiao-Hsien's "City of Sadness". We only had a limited amount of time so divided the day between the Gold Ecological Museum (黃金博物園區) in Jinguashi (金瓜石) and the Old Street (老街) in Chiufen （九份). Both were quite interesting, and definitely worth the trip out from Taipei. Had we planned further ahead I think we might have stayed overnight.
