California is an amazing place. I first came here for college because I fell in love with the place when I was in high school and visited the summer after my junior year. I went elsewhere for graduate school, but have been here ever since. The state is facing a number of challenges but I am confident we will make it through them. Maybe I am naive, but I still like to think California is the greatest place in the world. It certainly can't be beat for variety: great cities, deserts, mountains, agricultural fields, forests...
