This is a slideshow of favorite Japan photos.

My first visit to Japan was in 1993. I was on my way home from a year in Taiwan and a summer in Beijing, and I stopped in Japan to see some Japanese classmates who I studied Chinese with back in 1990. I visited Tokyo and Kyoto and Nagoya. Since then, I have visited Japan pretty regularly in connection with work. Of course I find some time to take pictures, and also see my classmates, often at reunion dinners. I feel fortunate to have friends who help host me in Japan when I am there and introduce me to a lot of places I wouldn't otherwise know about. Japan is a fascinating place and I enjoy visiting. I wish I could go there more often, but lately my work has been taking me to China and Korea more frequently. There are so many places in Japan I would like to see.

Right now most of my pictures are from Tokyo, since that is where I have visited most frequently since I acquired a digital camera. I have also had great times in Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyoto, but most of my visits to those lovely places were before I had a digital camera.
